Workplace Health and Safety Specialist Intern - Summer 2027 (Nationwide)

Responsibilities
- Work with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Teams and other interns on safety-related projects.
- Research, interpret, and present data to support safety recommendations for your final project, which will be presented to senior leadership.
- Assist in designing, building, improving, and innovating order fulfillment safety programs and initiatives across Amazon's fulfillment infrastructure (first mile, middle mile, and last mile).
- Collaborate with functional teams (Operations, RME, Central Teams, HR, Transportation Operations, etc.) in planning and executing assigned projects.
- Expand your professional network by participating in WHS Intern activities and events.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree with an expected completion date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Willing and able to work any shift, including overnights and holidays, with potential weekend overlap.
- Able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety shoes (provided).
- Able to stand/walk for up to 40 hours per week and navigate large warehouse facilities, including ascending/descending ladders, stairs, gangways, and shipping docks.
- Able to regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach, including lifting and moving items up to 49 pounds.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Health Science, Safety Engineering, Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Interest in or previous experience in safety-related employment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Excel, Project, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances.
- Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, transportation/logistics, or fulfillment/distribution centers is a plus.
About the Program
The Workplace Health and Safety Specialist (WHS) internship program is a 10-week, full-time (40 hours/week) opportunity during the summer of 2027. Start dates are available in May and June. The program includes OSHA10, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, technical writing, and project management training. Based on performance, interns may receive a full-time employment offer upon graduation. Decisions are communicated within weeks after the internship concludes.

Starting pay varies by location:
- USA, AZ, Goodyear - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, IL, Rockford - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, KS, Kansas City - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, LA, Shreveport - $44,540.00 annually
- USA, MI, Detroit - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, NJ, Logan Township - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, OH, Obetz - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, TN, Lebanon - $44,540.00 annually
- USA, TX, Fort Worth - $49,470.00 annually
- USA, WA, Spokane - $49,470.00 annually
Final starting pay is based on experience, qualifications, and location.
