About the role

DESC is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven fundraising professional to serve as our Workplace Giving Coordinator - a key member of the Fund Development team responsible for leading and executing the organization’s workplace giving efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of DESC’s Individual Giving Team, leading the development, execution, and ongoing optimization of DESC’s workplace giving strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with DESC’s Sr. Manager of Individual Giving to strengthen DESC’s participation in existing workplace giving programs within companies and organizations.
  • Identify, pursue, and create new workplace giving opportunities to expand DESC’s reach.
  • Ensure DESC remains in good standing and fully engaged across all workplace giving platforms and campaigns.
  • Co-create fundraising strategies and employee engagement opportunities matching the workplace giving company needs.
  • Partner with workplace ambassadors participating in employer-sponsored giving programs to co-develop corporate social responsibility strategies aligned with DESC’s values, fostering a shared understanding of collective community support while identifying meaningful engagement and giving opportunities within their organizations.
  • Manage a portfolio of workplace donors, including qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop and implement tailored solicitation strategies for individual donors and workplace donor groups.
  • Directly solicit gifts, including mid-level and major gifts, with a focus on increasing donor commitment and connection to our work.
  • Create and execute personalized stewardship plans that reflect donor interests and giving behaviors.
  • Deliver consistent, meaningful touchpoints including gift acknowledgments, updates, and educational opportunities.
  • Build trust-based relationships that encourage ongoing engagement and advocacy and center Community Centric Fundraising principles.
  • Communicate accurate information and ideas to DESC supporters, partners, and the public.
  • Proactively identify and cultivate new workplace donors through research, outreach, events, and engagement strategies.
  • Grow and manage a healthy pipeline of prospective and current workplace donors.
  • Track donor movement and identify opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Plan and execute workplace volunteer opportunities and engagement events tailored to workplace donors at workplaces and throughout the community.
  • Represent DESC at workplace giving events, including presentations and informational outreach.
  • Design supporter experiences that connect supporters directly to DESC’s mission and community impact.
  • Participate in agency wide events and help manage the supporter experience.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and engagement tracking within Salesforce or similar systems.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including donor growth, retention, and revenue.
  • In collaboration with the Sr. Manager of Individual Giving, prepare reports for leadership, committees, and Board stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with DESC's Donor Database Administrator to reconcile workplace giving contributions.
  • Partner with DESC's Corporate & Foundation Team, Community Resource Team, Communications Team and other DESC stakeholders to align workplace giving efforts with broader fundraising and communication strategies.
  • Contribute to Community Centric Fundraising initiatives, organizational engagement efforts and annual work planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-aligned team environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in nonprofit fundraising or related donor-facing roles.
  • 2+ years' experience in professional writing, communications, or content development, with a focus on external stakeholder communications.
  • Commitment to DESC’s mission and to community-centric, equity-based fundraising practices, with a demonstrated understanding of social and racial justice and a proven ability to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and professional contexts.
  • Highly organized and proactive, with demonstrated ability to manage a large donor portfolio while working comfortably with individual donors.
  • Ability to work independently; willingness to be flexible and work cooperatively with team members to accomplish department and agency objectives.
  • Excellent task, time, and project management skills, including the ability to set goals and objectives, apply appropriate analytical tools to update projections, and communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Pass a required Washington State criminal background check
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency including MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years’ experience working with nonprofit, government, or social service organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically at a systems level, including experience developing and guiding high-level engagement or partnership strategies that align organizational values with external stakeholders, particularly within corporate or workplace giving environments.
  • Experience soliciting major and multi-year gifts.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Raisers Edge or similar CRM or DRM systems.
  • Proven ability to engage donors through in-person outreach, with a strong understanding of effective fundraising strategies and a focus on building and maintaining meaningful relationships, is highly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating and supporting volunteers is a plus.
  • Prior public speaking experience a plus.
