Job Summary
Serves as the primary contact and subject matter expert for workplace accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, As Amended (2008). Coordinates the interactive process ensuring adherence to all federal, state and local disability-related laws and regulations as well as institutional and system policies. This position partners closely with employees, managers, HR Business Partners, Benefits Specialists, payroll, vendors, and legal counsel to assist in creating a supportive and accessible work environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the creation of the ADA program including standard operating procedures, forms, communications, and service level agreements. Ensures all program documents and communications are timely, clear and are compliant.
- Conducts thorough assessments and evaluations of ADA accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with university, USG, and legal requirements.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for ADA requests and assists with the facilitation of the interactive process meetings with employees, managers, HR Business Partners and Legal Counsel.
- Provides guidance to managers and departments on ADA compliance, reasonable accommodations and best practices
- Reviews medical documentation and collaborates with healthcare providers or authorized representatives as necessary to determine appropriate accommodations
- Maintains complete and accurate records in compliance with ADA regulations and university and USG policies, ensuring all documentation is gathered and tracked in accordance with all accommodation process steps.
- Develops and facilitates training and guidance for employees and managers on ADA compliance and processes and other HR related policies
- Stays current on federal, state and local regulations pertaining to ADA compliance
- Actively supports process development and improvement efforts, identifying process improvements to ensure the administration of the ADA program is managed in an efficient and effective manner
- Assists with complex FMLA or other leave of absence cases as needed.
- Cross trains with Benefits Specialists and covers vacancies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant HR, benefits, or leave administration experience.
- Experience: Three (3) years of experience administering the ADAAA employee lifecycle, ADAAA Compliance, Benefits or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred Education: Undergraduate or Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Preferred Experience: Experience interpreting federal laws and regulations governing the provision of services to people with disabilities including the ADAAA and Sections 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Experience conducting interactive processes and evaluating reasonable accommodations. Experience in higher education, public sector, healthcare, or government environment. Experience with case management systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, ServiceNow, AbsenceSoft, Simplicity or similar platforms.
