About the role

The Research Data Analyst II (RDA II) is a core analyst in the Visualization & Analytics Unit, responsible for extracting, cleaning, and preparing workforce datasets, applying intermediate analytic methods, and documenting processes to ensure accuracy and reproducibility. The position supports the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards and other data visualizations using various software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS) and ensures adherence to Data De-Identification Guidelines (DDG), Data Governance standards, and accessibility requirements. The RDA II formats and publishes open data products with accompanying metadata and data dictionaries, monitors the workforce data mailbox, responds to routine inquiries, and escalates complex issues as needed. By combining technical analysis, visualization support, and customer service, the role contributes to delivering accurate, transparent, and user-friendly workforce data products that advance HCAI’s mission and support BH-CONNECT related initiatives. Will report to Research Data Supervisor I, Visualization and Analytics Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Extract, clean, and prepare workforce datasets.
  • Apply intermediate analytic methods and document processes to ensure accuracy and reproducibility.
  • Support the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards and other data visualizations using software such as Tableau, Power BI, and ArcGIS.
  • Ensure adherence to Data De-Identification Guidelines (DDG), Data Governance standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Format and publish open data products with accompanying metadata and data dictionaries.
  • Monitor the workforce data mailbox, respond to routine inquiries, and escalate complex issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Application must include a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The SOQ must be in 12-point Arial font, single-spaced, and no more than 2 page(s) in length. The SOQ must include responses to the following questions in numerical order; do not consolidate responses:
    • Describe a project where you analyzed data and created data visualizations to effectively communicate research data to internal or external partners. Be sure your response includes specific tools/software used.
    • What were the aims of the visualization project, what audience was it designed for, and what steps did you take to ensure that the visualization was effective for its audience?

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).

Pay

$6,647.00 - $8,325.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) hours each month.
