About the Role

Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford.

We are seeking someone who is able to teach Workforce Instructor in Apprenticeship/Industry/Construction both in-person and online.

Responsibilities

  • Teach specific classes in the designated discipline (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Welding, Fiber Optics)
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization
  • Meet assigned classes regularly
  • Submit required records and reports routinely
  • Teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts
  • Adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the subject area
  • History of successful teaching experience
  • Subject matter expertise, and experience in facilitating learning

Additional Considerations

  • Ability to teach online, and/or willingness to learn and effectively utilize online learning platforms
  • Industry certifications in respective fields
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools

Pay

$60-$100 per hour. Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Schedule

Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session.

This position is located in Virginia. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance. You may be required to travel to any college campus or center as needed.

Adjunct postings are pool postings, meaning that when there is a need, the divisions pull from the applicants that have applied to this position.
