Workface Planner & Hydrotest Coordinator
Relocation not authorized. Full-time telework initially from Reston, Virginia; later mobilization to the Maple Creek project site in Fairbanks Township, IN.
About the role
The Workface Planner & Hydrotest Coordinator supports construction execution on the Maple Creek Combined Cycle Power Project through the development and maintenance of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Installation Work Packages (IWPs), hydrotest planning, and construction readiness activities. Working closely with Construction, Field Engineering, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Startup, and subcontractor teams, this role develops executable work packages, identifies and removes constraints, coordinates hydrotest activities, and ensures field work is sequenced safely and efficiently. The position integrates engineering, procurement, construction, and startup requirements into field execution plans to improve productivity, predictability, and readiness for system turnover and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases and prepares quantity takeoffs of field-purchased material and equipment.
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems.
- Ensures zero-accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others in the operational area; ensures tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Proactively pursues continuous learning or shows interest in appropriate learning activities.
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2–5 years of relevant experience or 6–9 years of relevant work experience.
- Understanding of construction sequencing and workface planning principles.
- Familiarity with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Construction Work Packages (CWPs), and Installation Work Packages (IWPs).
- Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling software.
- Experience with 4D planning and visualization tools (Synchro, Navisworks, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Familiarity with hydrotest planning, mechanical completion, and turnover processes.
- Ability to identify construction constraints and support readiness planning.
- Experience tracking quantities, productivity, and progress metrics.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with field and engineering teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other data analysis tools.
- Industrial, infrastructure, power, data center, or EPC project experience.
