Workers Compensation Lead

This role serves as a senior resource, providing expert guidance on complex workers’ compensation cases. The position leads escalated case management, mentors junior staff, and contributes to policy interpretation, process improvement, and program analytics to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex, high-risk, litigated, and sensitive workers’ compensation claims.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc reporting, dashboards, and executive summaries for OHS and HR leadership.
  • Analyze workers’ compensation claim data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with OHS as needed.
  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on claim cost mitigation, return-to-work optimization, and process improvement.
  • Assist with TPA and broker vendor management and facilitate claim review meetings.
  • Support complex accommodation, return-to-work, and transitional duty discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3 years of progressive workers’ compensation experience required.
  • Experience with complex multi-state workers’ compensation programs required.
  • Experience with case management technology preferred.
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, and project leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations and claim management.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and dashboard development skills.
  • Strong project management, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to generate insights from data.
  • Strong knowledge of ADA and workers’ compensation interplay.

Physical Requirements

  • Position works in-office at the corporate location.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and stoop as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
  • Ability to travel up to 10% via airplane or vehicle.
  • Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility and/or communication.
