Workers’ Compensation Judge

About the role

The Administrative Law Judge hears and decides judicial matters arising under the Labor Code and California Code of Regulations relating to workers’ compensation and related laws, and performs other related work within the Division of Workers' Compensation. The position is located at 7575 Metropolitan Drive, Suite 202, San Diego, CA 92108-4424. The incumbent works in an air‑conditioned office building with natural and artificial lighting and temperature control, and may work in private offices or court rooms. Extensive computer use is required for drafting documents, conducting research, and email communication.

Responsibilities

• Hear and decide judicial matters arising under the Labor Code and California Code of Regulations relating to workers’ compensation and related laws.
• Perform other related work within the Division of Workers' Compensation.

Requirements

• Be reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility.
• Be currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, be in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (SROA/Surplus candidates receive priority).

Qualifications

• Adhere to the California Code of Judicial Ethics.
• Be a member of the State Bar of California.
