Workers' Compensation Complex Claims Adjuster (NJ)

About the role

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking a New Jersey Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster to manage workers' compensation claims from assignment through resolution. This role involves investigating claims, evaluating compensability, coordinating with medical providers and legal partners, managing reserves, and driving timely claims resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Manage workers' compensation claims throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Investigate losses and make compensability decisions.
• Collaborate with claimants, employers, attorneys, medical providers, and vendors.
• Identify recovery opportunities, fraud concerns, and litigation strategies.
• Negotiate settlements and work toward quality claim outcomes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of New Jersey lost-time workers' compensation experience, including litigated claims handling.
• Strong investigation, organization, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree in business management or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Must hold an active adjuster license or be willing and able to obtain and maintain all required state licenses. The company will support the licensing process, including cost, training, and compliance with ongoing continuing education requirements.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $80,000. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.

Schedule

Hybrid schedule with predictable hours (no nights, weekends, or holidays).

This role may be based out of one of the following locations: New York, NY; Parsippany, NJ; Conshohocken, PA; Wilkes-Barre, PA; Alpharetta, GA; Rosemont, IL; Plano, TX; and Scottsdale, AZ.
