Work Study Student
About the role
The Work Study Program at Forest Lawn provides Mortuary Science students with hands-on experience in the Mortuary industry. The primary goal is to prepare students for successful careers in the field. This part-time position involves learning and performing Funeral Service and Service Arrangements duties, shadowing Memorial Counselors, and assisting with various tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Religious Services, Military Services, Visitation, and Vigils
- Greet and usher families, distribute prayer cards and memory folders
- Manage traffic control during services
- Transfer remains and handle interment permits
- Create and manage memory folders and prayer cards
- Work with government agencies and families
- Observe and assist in memorial counseling meetings
- Assist with dressing, casketing, and cosmeticizing
- Set up visitation rooms and review mortuary paperwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Currently enrolled and attending the Mortuary Science program
- A minimum 2.0 GPA and be in good academic standing
- Provide unofficial transcripts showing current enrollment and GPA
- Able to lift up to 80 lbs
- Valid California Driver’s License

Drug Testing Policy
All job applicants who receive a job offer will be required to voluntarily submit to a drug screening test conducted by a laboratory designated by Forest Lawn. The drug screening method is a hair collection test that will detect the use of illegal drugs within the past 90 days. A positive drug test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.
