About the role

The Work Readiness Facilitator facilitates life skills, work readiness, and financial empowerment training to WeCARE participants and coordinates with other VRS staff to ensure job-ready participants are referred to positions that match their skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop life skills, financial empowerment, and work readiness training curriculum and individual lessons.
  • Create lesson plans based on principles of Fedcap’s Power of Possible curriculum with continuous updates reflecting changes to the economic and workforce environment.
  • Research and stay current on the New York job market and growth sectors in employment.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual work readiness groups of up to 25 participants to motivate and prepare them for employment.
  • Educate participants on cash assistance benefits, budgeting, and transitioning from public assistance to self-sufficiency.
  • Apply motivational techniques to increase individual success and meet program outcomes.
  • Consult with vocational rehabilitation and employment services staff regarding curriculum and training needs.
  • Work with job development staff to identify job-ready individuals for employment opportunities.
  • Assist with timekeeping by ensuring accurate recording of on-site and virtual attendance and engagement.
  • Liaise with outreach and timekeeping staff to ensure missed appointments are properly accounted for and excused absences are accurately recorded.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, human services, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of prior group teaching or training experience, with at least one year working with adult students.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates preferred.

Pay

$23.08–$25.00 per hour / $48,000–$52,000 annually.
