AMS is looking to add a Work Planner to our team! Responsibilities

  • Conducts safety audits.
  • Inspects gas line rights-of-way (ROW) and easements for trim, removal, and chemical treatment requirements.
  • Plans vegetation removals on gas line rights-of-way and HVD.
  • Marks vegetation as required.
  • Collects and reports data required by Line Clearing contractors.
  • Notifies and communicates with customers as required.
  • Travel requirements vary by work location and project needs; occasional day or overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Drives a company vehicle safely to work locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum thirty (30) semester credits or forty-five (45) quarter credits toward a degree from an accredited college/university OR 2-3 years of UVM experience without a degree.
  • Species and hazard tree identification skills, knowledge of invasive species, and tree growth.
  • Computer and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ISA or equivalent certification (preferred but not required).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Working Environment

Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines in remote, urban, or city settings. Physical demands include:

  • Walking/hiking up to 10 miles daily on varied terrain (flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep, hills, slopes).
  • Exposure to noise, dust, grease, all weather/temperature conditions, and hazardous traffic.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, and driving; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, running, crawling, climbing, reaching, and twisting.
  • Repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movements (e.g., forcefully beating down brush).
  • Carrying, pushing, or pulling light to heavy weights; frequent lifting up to 10 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 60 lbs. (e.g., sandbags).
  • Operating field equipment (handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, traffic cones).
  • Verbal communication with the public; normal vision and hearing (with or without correction).
