WordPress WooCommerce Developer

About the role

Inverse Paradox, a growing digital agency in the Philadelphia area, is seeking a mid-to-high level WordPress/WooCommerce Developer to join its tightly knit team. Since 2007, the agency has used WordPress as the backbone for client websites ranging from small businesses with a few editable pages to international publications with complex taxonomies generating hundreds of thousands of pages. This role offers the opportunity to diversify your WordPress and WooCommerce skill set while pushing technical limits and growing with each project.

Responsibilities

• Program, develop, code websites, and produce data-driven web applications using WordPress and WooCommerce
• Collaborate with designers, developers, and project managers on client projects
• Consult with clients as needed
• Contribute to the development of internal company special projects
• Manage your own time and development across multiple projects and clients to meet deliverables
• Follow and contribute to internal development standards
• Keep up on the latest trends and best practices in web development
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

Frontend

• Excellent knowledge of HTML5/XHTML, XML, AJAX, JavaScript/jQuery, CSS3
• Excellent knowledge of WooCommerce and WordPress
• Strong understanding and experience with SASS
• Experience with responsive design without dependence on frameworks
• Ability to translate PSDs and other design assets into cohesive websites
• Strong sense of visual design
• Understanding of front-end optimization techniques
• Knowledge of usability/user experience design is a plus
• Experience maintaining version control using Git

Backend

• Strong experience with custom WordPress theme development, including accommodating full user editability, complex layouts, and plugins requiring theme customization (no prebuilt themes)
• Experience creating custom themes for use with WooCommerce
• Familiarity with common plugins such as Advanced Custom Fields, Gravity Forms, The Events Calendar, s2Member, BuddyPress
• Experience creating custom WordPress plugins is a plus
• Thorough understanding of custom post types and taxonomies
• Working knowledge of basic PHP and MySQL
• Understanding of programming security best practices
• Familiarity with web design/development issues and accessibility is a plus
• Familiarity with using command-line tools on Linux servers is a plus
• Familiarity with using Git for source control is a plus
• Involvement in the open-source community is a plus

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with WooCommerce and WordPress
• 3+ years of front-end development with solid project-level experience in WordPress, HTML, and CSS
• Previous development firm/agency experience preferred
