Wood Carver Apprentice
Summary/Objective
The Wood Carver Apprentice program is a paid, entry-level, developmental opportunity—offered as a 3-month full-time or 480-hour part-time program—designed to teach the art of wood carving and inlaying, with potential for full-time employment based on performance and proficiency.
Essential Functions
- Assist with preparing and organizing wood pieces for projects.
- Support machine setup and material handling under supervision.
- Operate basic woodworking tools and equipment (training provided).
- Help carve, sand, assemble, and finish wood components as directed.
- Follow shop drawings and work instructions with attention to detail.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Absorb and assist team members with moving materials and setting up workstations.
- Observe and learn from experienced woodworkers on carving, inlaying, and finishing techniques.
Qualifications
- Basic woodworking experience or coursework preferred (school, hobby, or trade setting).
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Punctual, dependable, and safety-minded.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a manufacturing and production floor environment. At times, machines and hand tools may create noise exposure that is within sound level parameters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly stand for prolonged periods of time, some sitting, and some walking.
- Repetitive physical motions throughout the shift that may include the use of feet, legs, arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- High degree of manual dexterity and close visual attention required.
- Carry and/or lift up to 50 lbs. if needed.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is full or part-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
