About the role

The University of Utah Women's Health Equity Fellowship (WHE) is an OBGYN departmental fellowship aimed at addressing health equity for women in low-resource settings. Trainees will gain a comprehensive understanding of clinical care, research, professionalism, leadership, and global health ethics through core competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve the Navajo Nation at Tsehootsooi Medical Center in Fort Defiance, Arizona, during the first year.
  • Complete a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation in Salt Lake City, if desired.
  • Train at the University of Rwanda, Kigali (CHUK) in Kigali, Rwanda for the second year.
  • Supervise medical students and residents on labor and delivery and the gynecology inpatient service in Salt Lake City.
  • Engage in clinical innovation and quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Completed accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in current home state.
  • Board eligible or certified in general obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Able to serve as a generalist Ob-Gyn attending physician.
  • Completion of the General Obstetrics and Gynecology ABOG written board exam prior to fellowship, except under extenuating circumstances.
