About the role
We're hiring an experienced freelance WNBA Writer to cover the league for Fadeaway World, one of LH2's sports media brands reaching 5M+ readers monthly. This is a contract/freelance role — fully remote, open to candidates based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Write breaking news, game recaps, trade/free agency analysis, and feature pieces on WNBA teams and players
- Turn around breaking news quickly same-day or same-hour on major stories
- Bring your own story ideas and angles, not just wait for assignments
- Follow SEO and house style guidelines for digital-first sports content
- Maintain accuracy on stats, transactions, and player details — this beat has an engaged, detail-checking fanbase
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience writing WNBA content (staff or freelance)
- Deep, current knowledge of the league: rosters, storylines, rules changes, CBA basics
- Demonstrated ability to write fast without sacrificing accuracy, especially around breaking news
- Based in the United States, available during game hours/evenings for time-sensitive coverage
- Comfortable with a per-article freelance structure (no salary/benefits)
- Self-starter — able to work with minimal day-to-day oversight
Pay
Paid per published article, up to $20 per article based on experience and article type/length. Paid on a monthly basis via domestic ACH transfer. Regular writers get first access to breaking-news assignments.
