We acquire or partner with digital media brands (content websites, YouTube channels, social media creators, podcasts, and newsletters) and scale them through tech, content, and distribution infrastructure. This is powered by LH2 Media OS—an AI-powered platform that helps digital content brands scale by optimizing the entire content value chain, from identifying viral topics and trends in real time to generating story angles, research, and editorial support. We currently work with ~25 brands across different niches with ~50M monthly pageviews under management, where each brand has been scaled 3-10x. Our vision is to become the largest distributed digital media company in the world. LH2 is being built by second-time founders who have scaled tech platforms with hundreds of millions of users.

About the role

As a Sports Writer - WNBA, you will be responsible for covering breaking news, trending stories, game-related updates, player developments, rumors, analysis, and fan-driven content across U.S. sports, with a primary focus on the WNBA. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the U.S. sports landscape and a deep knowledge of women’s basketball. You should be closely familiar with the WNBA, its teams, players, coaches, and major storylines, while also being comfortable covering broader basketball and sports developments when relevant. You will work in a fast-paced digital newsroom environment and should be able to quickly identify newsworthy and trending topics, develop compelling story angles, and turn them into accurate and engaging articles.

Responsibilities

  • Write 4-5 articles per day covering breaking and trending U.S. sports stories, with a strong focus on women’s basketball
  • Cover game updates, player performances, injuries, trades, roster moves, free agency, rumors, controversies, and other major sports developments
  • Closely follow league news, team announcements, player interviews, press conferences, games, social media conversations, and emerging storylines
  • Monitor sports news and social media platforms to identify trending topics and potential story opportunities
  • Develop timely and engaging story angles around breaking news, viral moments, player developments, and fan-driven conversations
  • Produce accurate, engaging, and reader-friendly content under tight deadlines
  • Optimize articles for SEO, Google Discover, and social media performance
  • Write compelling headlines, hooks, and story structures designed to maximize audience engagement
  • Conduct thorough research and fact-checking before publication
  • Pitch timely and relevant story ideas regularly
  • Collaborate with editors and content teams to maintain editorial quality and publishing consistency

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in sports journalism, digital media, or sports content writing
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. sports, with a demonstrated specialization in the WNBA and women’s basketball
  • In-depth familiarity with WNBA teams, players, coaches, league developments, and current storylines
  • Strong understanding of basketball and the broader U.S. sports landscape
  • Excellent written English and storytelling skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced newsroom environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to factual accuracy
  • Ability to quickly identify trending and newsworthy sports stories
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Google Docs, and digital editorial workflows

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience covering women’s basketball, the WNBA, or basketball-focused digital media
  • Experience writing breaking news, trending stories, game coverage, and player-focused content
  • Familiarity with SEO tools, Google Trends, Google Discover, and audience engagement strategies
  • Strong understanding of sports social media trends and online fan communities
  • Ability to identify emerging players, storylines, controversies, and conversations that can drive audience interest
  • Understanding of digital publishing and viral sports content
  • Strong interest in sports media and a habit of consistently following current sports news
  • Ability to adapt coverage based on major developments across the wider U.S. sports landscape
