About the role

The Wireless Technician II performs skilled installation and maintenance of wireless telecommunications infrastructure across macro, small cell, and DAS environments. This role executes construction and installation activities in the field while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and carrier standards. Technician II is a developing-level role responsible for executing defined work packages with moderate supervision and increasing technical independence.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and retrofit macro, small cell, IDAS, and ODAS systems
  • Install vertical and horizontal cabling (coax, fiber, power)
  • Determine appropriate cable routing and best-path solutions
  • Install antennas, radios, remote units, racks, and head-end equipment
  • Perform grounding and bonding per code and carrier requirements
  • Execute OEM installation standards
  • Assist with sweep testing, PIM testing, and fiber testing
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Label and document installations according to carrier standards
  • Support closeout documentation with accurate photos and reporting
  • Follow OSHA, NFPA, and company safety protocols
  • Maintain job site cleanliness and organization
  • Safely operate lifts and bucket trucks
  • Work at heights up to 70 feet

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant field installation experience
  • Wireless industry experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors, on ladders, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to work with and around electrical wires and components and/or ESD products
  • Ability to work remotely at construction or installation sites
  • Ability to repeatedly ascend and descend ladders and lifts up to 50 feet
  • Ability to climb heights up to 70 feet as required
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, including air travel (typically Monday through Friday, returning home on Fridays; occasional projects may require travel for up to 10 consecutive days, followed by approximately 4 days at home)
  • Current project locations include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, and Arizona

Skills

  • Working knowledge of wireless infrastructure systems
  • Familiarity with PIM and sweep testing equipment
  • Basic understanding of fiber handling and termination
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Knowledge of carrier installation standards
  • Safe operation of power tools and testing equipment
  • Detail-oriented with strong quality focus
  • Effective communicator with team members and supervisors
  • Able to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Strong time management and reliability

$23 per hour

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Location: Carmel/Indianapolis, Indiana area, or Rolling Meadows, Illinois area
