Wireless Engineer

About the role

The Wireless Engineer will combine technical skills with strategic thinking to contribute to the DoD's mission readiness through the design, development, and implementation of wireless network solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, install, configure, test, and implement wireless LAN controllers and network solutions.
• Translate technical requirements into detailed system designs and operation guides.
• Develop and document deliverables such as engineering studies, technical solutions, installation plans, and as-built drawings.
• Conduct wireless network site surveys and analyze data from software suites like Ekahau and AirMagnet to recommend network designs or upgrades.
• Manage and maintain full deployments of Aruba Enterprise Networks, Guest Management Systems, and wireless controllers and access points.
• Work with redundant internet sources and analyze WIDS logs to determine courses of action and make recommendations.
• Create and manage captive portal solutions for guest access and documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with wireless LAN controllers.
• Experience with Aruba or Cisco wireless network solutions.
• Experience capturing and analyzing technical requirements.
• Experience with RF engineering, systems integration, and development of integration design packages.
• Experience with operations, testing, test procedures, test reports, and fielding tactical radios.
• Experience with deploying and configuring Access Points (APs) and controllers using Aruba 8.x code, Airwave, and Aruba Central platforms.
• Experience managing and maintaining full deployments of Aruba Enterprise Networks, Guest Management Systems, and wireless controllers and access points.
• Experience working with redundant internet sources such as Starshield and 5G.
• Experience in the analysis of WIDS and appropriate logs to determine courses of action and make recommendations.
• Knowledge of network fundamentals such as SSLs, DNS, DHCP, IP subnetting, addressing, and variable length subnet masks.
• Ability to conduct onsite and predictive wireless surveys using Ekahau survey kits and software.
• Ability to troubleshoot wireless issues using RF scanning and packet captures.
• Ability to create and manage captive portal solutions for guest access and create and manage documentation.

Qualifications

• Secret clearance.
• High school diploma or GED and 9+ years of experience with wireless, or Associate’s degree and 7+ years of experience with wireless, or Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience with wireless.

Pay

$61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD)

Schedule

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs. Individuals that do not meet the threshold are only eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits.

Employees working remotely or in a hybrid model may be required to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, in alignment with leadership expectations and the needs of the role.

Employees working onsite will primarily work at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, where they will collaborate directly with colleagues and customers as required by the role.
