Wire Room Associate

About the role

Supports the day-to-day operations of the Branch. This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of awareness and in a safe manner is imperative.

Candidates offered employment must undergo a pre-employment drug test screening for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, and phencyclidines, following cutoff levels set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This position is also subject to a background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities; only job-related convictions will be considered and will not automatically disqualify the candidate.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all orders requiring shipment of spools and/or wire are fulfilled in a timely manner.
• Verify shipments of wire are cut to order and adhere to safety standards.
• Perform assigned housekeeping tasks.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; warehouse or distribution experience preferred.
• Able to identify product by size, type, style, color, or product code.
• Must be able to read orders and match shipping tickets to items picked.
• Basic math and reasoning skills.
• Certification for power-truck equipment.
• Operate inventory control equipment such as bar-coding equipment and handheld devices.

Physical Requirements

• Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Able to withstand extreme temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
• Position spends a large amount of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
• May require climbing ladders for top-level selection.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
