Wire EDM / CNC Technician

About the Role

Responsible for set-up, programming, and operating CNC Mills, CNC Machining Centers, and Wire EDM Machines to produce high-tolerance products in support of production.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC Mills, CNC Machining Centers, and Wire EDM Machines.
• Write programs and make adjustments to adhere to established specifications and correct faulty programming.
• Make necessary program adjustments as a result of material variations.
• Make general decisions regarding quality, tolerance, and operation sequence.
• Maintain all equipment and work areas.
• Maintain computer files and backups to part prints.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus formal training leading to Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker and/or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• 3+ years of related work experience.
• Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills sufficient to perform fabrication and build activities.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Knowledge of cutting, forming, milling, grinding, assembly, tool steel composition, tool sharpening, hardness testing, machine repair, and set-up, and metal fabrication.
• Ability to operate basic metrology instruments, grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, and optical comparators.
• Knowledge of CNC Programming.
• CAD and part layout experience.
• Familiarity with Siemens controllers.
• Knowledge of IATF16949 requirements.
• Computer and math skills sufficient to perform department-related tasks.
• Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of employees.
• Ability to work effectively with people.
• Hi-lo and crane certification and Journeyman status or accredited certificate required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on the plant floor.
