Winter Seasonal Maintenance Worker

Temporary Winter Seasonal Maintenance position assisting the Department in snow and ice removal operations and performing routine skilled and unskilled tasks related to the maintenance of Village streets, storm sewers, traffic systems, signs, and sidewalks.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow and ice removal operations.
• Maintain and repair Village-owned infrastructure and properties during dry weather, including streets, storm sewers, traffic systems, signs, and sidewalks.
• Operate equipment such as loaders, backhoes, vacuum trucks, and televising trucks.
• Complete a variety of maintenance, repair, service, and installation tasks as assigned by the Director of Public Works.
• Engage in physically demanding tasks requiring strength and endurance, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting more than 100 pounds.
• Work in extended exposure to the elements.
• Be available for on-call and overtime work, assigned by rotation among all maintenance employees (overtime is mandatory).
• May be assigned and rotated to any job assignment or shift at the employer's discretion.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Proof of satisfactory past work-related experience in Public Works or Construction Trades.
• One (1) year of prior municipal (or similar) work experience preferred.
• Valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B, or equivalent.

Any offer of employment will be conditioned upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including a drug and alcohol screen.

Pay

Starting rate: $30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Schedule

Typically Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, from December 1 to April 30. Total hours not to exceed 1,000 from date of hire. Schedule may change depending on operational needs.
