About the role
Acker, the oldest and most respected wine shop in America, is seeking a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Wine Sales Associate) to help customers select wine and spirits in-store. This role involves ensuring the store is well-stocked, processing transactions, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of wine industry trends.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service in-person and over the phone.
- Process sales, returns, and arrange for delivery or pick-up of orders.
- Build rapport with customers through conversation and honest recommendations.
- Assist in special events and in-store tastings.
- Support Fine and Rare and Business Development managers and team members.
- Set up merchandise displays on the sales floor.
- Write wine and spirits descriptions and shelf talkers.
- Invite customers to join the wine club.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in wine sales (required).
- Genuine appreciation and passion for the wine and spirits industry.
- Sommelier experience (preferred).
- WSET certification (preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Customer service-focused with strong communication skills.
- High-energy team player with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Regularly lift and move cases of wine and spirits (up to 50 pounds).

Pay
$22.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
