Windows and Linux System Administrator

Location: San Diego, CA | Clearance: Active Secret | Position Status: 6-month contract-to-hire (converts to $105-115K post-hire)

About the role

Support a critical Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) network and secure enclaves for a federal defense client in San Diego. This fully onsite role involves maintaining secure infrastructure, hardening systems to federal standards, and contributing to the design and engineering of new capabilities in a classified environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain secure Windows and Linux infrastructure
• Harden systems to federal standards (STIGs, CTOs, IAVM process)
• Develop and execute PowerShell and Bash scripts
• Support patch compliance and vulnerability management
• Maintain asset tracking databases and develop SOPs
• Support equipment procurement and coordinate shipping to remote teams

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, GSEC, SCNP, or SSCP)
• 3+ years of experience administering Windows 11 systems
• 3+ years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
• Proficiency with DISA hardening standards (STIGs, CTOs)
