Window Field Technician

About the role

The Field Technician will measure, install and test products and provide customers with instructions on the proper usage of the product. The Field Technician will travel to customers' homes or businesses to perform repairs and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and provide accurate measurements of doors and windows.
• Provide timely and quality repairs, including screen installation, sash replacement, glass replacement, hardware replacement, and seal repairs.
• Coordinate required return visits; convey needed services, materials, and labor.
• Perform post‑installation inspections.
• Anticipate obstacles that could impact customer expectations, job costs, or code performance and recommend solutions.
• Promote the company’s services.
• Maintain technical and mechanical skills.

Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification in the industry.
• Previous experience servicing windows and doors.
• Previous experience in exterior replacement products.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for insurance purposes.
• Minimum one year of window/door installation or repair experience.

Skills

• Excellent technical and mechanical skills; experience with basic hand power and diagnostic tools.
• Physical fitness to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and bend frequently.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Manage overtime on service calls with patience, avoiding rushing the job.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and solve problems based on customers’ non‑technical descriptions.
• Strong working knowledge of industry equipment and tools.
• Willingness to travel within the radius of UWD locations.
