We are currently looking for a Winder I to join our team on the 1st shift (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) in Pueblo, reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Determine the correct number and type (epoxy or phenolic) of roving for scheduled product, string through the eye board and comb.
- Confirm product to produce with the schedule, verify the correct winding program is selected in the computer system, and ensure the correct mandrels with correct bells are loaded in the winding equipment (always have a complement of mandrels loaded).
- Verify mandrel seals are present and in good condition. Move mandrel to winder and fill the resin bath.
- Wind the initial conduit mandrel and verify all specifications including angle, wind patterns (no gaps), and outside diameter (OD). Note that wet OD measurement will be slightly smaller than the cured product; final OD confirmation will be performed on cured product.
- Keep accurate production records.
- Monitor conduit dimensional and aesthetic requirements by communicating with the sawyer and adjusting as needed.
- Perform changeovers with assistance.
- Perform simple maintenance tasks and maintain housekeeping in your assigned area.
- Perform shutdown and cleaning procedures.
- Complete any other tasks appointed by management.
Requirements
- Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of previous shop experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong math skills for quick and accurate counting, calculations, and measurements (radius, inside/outside diameter, length).
- Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
- Adaptability to changes in the work environment, ability to handle multiple competing demands, and comfort with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be medically cleared to wear a respirator and other required PPE.
Within 3 Months
- Know and follow plant safety rules, including wearing proper PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, high-vis clothing, gloves, etc.).
- Zero safety incidents in the past 90 days of evaluation.
- Fewer than 15 attendance points on the evaluation date.
- No documented warnings within 90 days of the probationary period.
Pay
As of the date of this posting, the pay range for this position is $23.00 per hour. Placement in the range depends on competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business needs. Other compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and incentives.
