Windchill Backend Developer

The Windchill Backend Developer position is 100% Remote (U.S.), Full-time, Direct W2, requiring 6+ years of experience. Sponsorship is open to U.S. Citizens, Green Card Holders, EAD Holders, and H-1B transfer candidates; the company is unable to sponsor new H-1B visa petitions for this role.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with cross‑functional partners (product, design, engineering, operations, business stakeholders) to translate ambiguous requirements into well‑engineered solutions.
• Raise the bar through code review, design review, and mentorship of junior engineers.
• Focus on deep, low‑level Windchill customizations using Java, PTC APIs, and PTC’s customization frameworks.
• Extend platform behavior via services, listeners, and processors while maintaining a clean, upgrade‑friendly customization layer.
• Demonstrate strong engineering discipline, clear communication, and a track record of shipping production‑ready work.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Five or more years of Java development experience, with strong focus on Windchill customization
• Deep, hands‑on experience with the Windchill Java API and customization frameworks
• Solid understanding of Windchill data model, lifecycle, and workflow internals
• Strong Java OO design and performance‑engineering skills
• Experience with JSP, HTML, and Windchill client‑side customization
• Hands‑on experience with Type and Attribute Management (TAM)
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server
• Experience supporting Windchill upgrades
• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• PTC Windchill development certifications
• Experience with PTC ThingWorx development
• Exposure to Windchill RV&S customization
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling for Windchill
• Experience operating Windchill in the cloud

Pay

Salary Range: $120,000–$135,000 Annually
