Wind Technician (Renewables) - Alta Windfarm - Clinton, IL

About the role

This entry-level position is located at Alta Windfarm in Clinton, IL. You’ll be responsible for the service and maintenance of Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, providing excellent service for customers, completing technical work orders, interacting with teammates, and maintaining a safety-first mentality. A background in skilled trades or other technical work experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the improvement of new and updated field procedures and standard methodologies.
• Work inside wind turbine enclosures at an elevated height of 300 feet.
• Maintain composure during stressful and sometimes hazardous situations.
• Perform physical tasks including ladder climbing (minimum 267 steps), stair climbing, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, working above shoulders, pushing, pulling, and exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces, various hand tools, and extreme weather conditions.
• Efficiently tackle additional roles and responsibilities at an operating wind farm.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A technical college degree, certification(s), or apprenticeships in electrical/mechanical systems is desirable but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
• Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by safety regulations.
• Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform job functions.
• Strong ability to prioritize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.
• Hands-on experience with electrical systems, including PLC programming and converters, is preferred but not required.
• Experience interacting with customers at various levels of responsibility.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; periodic DMV checks may be required.
• Legally authorized for employment in the United States without requiring employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Clinton, Illinois is $51,000.00 - $55,000.00. Employees are also eligible to participate in a Gain Share program. Specific offers are determined by factors such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range.
