About the Role
Join the world’s leading generator of renewable energy as a Wind Technician at NextEra Energy. You will be on the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm site operations, focusing on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, as well as the long-term reliability and profitability of the equipment.
Responsibilities
- Execute Safety Management System procedures and instructions, conduct field work in compliance with OSHA regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture.
- Work outdoors and at heights in various weather conditions.
- Troubleshoot and maintain electrical components such as relays, breakers, contactors, cards, and related hardware.
- Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical components such as motors, gear drives, and other mechanical systems.
- Perform routine annual preventative maintenance of wind turbine components.
- Operate the tablet provided to each technician.
- Collaborate with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation-focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance.
- Recruit and develop other technicians for ongoing team development.
- Support the site manager in all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, maintenance, financial reporting, and turbine availability.
- Present a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with customers.
- Participate in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects, as well as career development and Partners in Performance programs driving annual merit and incentives rewards.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment.
- Complete electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Maintain all company-supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling.
- Apply a basic understanding of technical and process functions.
- Manage personal training schedules and meet all training requirements within designated time frames.
- Meet attendance requirements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License (non-CDL).
- Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet.
- Post-offer Functional Capacity Evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree.
