Job Summary

Aid in store operations by performing clerk duties in designated departments (grocery or freight), leading by example, and assisting the department manager in general department operations as directed.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

• Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers.
• Maintain and encourage a friendly, enthusiastic customer service atmosphere with an emphasis on customer care.
• Perform duties of a grocery clerk, cashier, and/or freight stocker, as well as assist assigned employees in their tasks as appropriate.
• Notify employees of breaks and lunches.
• Communicate with supervisor regularly.
• Assist supervisor as needed.
• Provide direction and leadership to clerks, demonstrate and perform clerk responsibilities, and answer employee questions.
• Monitor cashier money handling procedures and assist with scan system procedures.
• Stock and rotate merchandise in any area of the store as needed.

Requirements

• Educational requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Clear communication, excellent verbal and written skills, interpersonal skills, leadership, multi-tasking, visual inspections, basic math, and understanding of company practices.
• Age Requirement: At least 21 years old in most states, 18 years old in Montana and Oregon.
• Additional Requirements: Food Handlers Certification, proper use of cleaning chemicals, compliance with state and county laws, and understanding of state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to consistently provide world-class customer service to internal and external customers.
• Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including night, weekends, and holidays.
• Understand overall company practices through previous experience in designated department (grocery or freight) or equivalent.
• Operate machines and equipment as per department-specific job description.
