Job Summary

Aid store management with operations by performing clerk duties in designated departments (grocery or freight), leading by example, and assisting the department manager with general department operations as directed.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

• Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers.
• Maintain and encourage a friendly, enthusiastic customer service atmosphere.
• Perform duties of a grocery clerk, cashier, and/or freight stocker.
• Assist assigned employees in their tasks as appropriate, including notifying them of breaks and lunches.
• Communicate with supervisor regularly.
• Assist supervisor as needed or directed.
• Monitor arrivals, breaks, lunches, and departures of employees in assigned area.
• Ensure department/area of responsibility is clear of excess carts, baskets, garbage, etc.
• Stock and rotate merchandise in any area of the store as needed.

Requirements

• Educational requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Clear communication, interpersonal skills, leadership, multi-tasking, visual inspections, basic math, and understanding of company practices.
• Age requirement: At least 21 years old in most states, 18 years old in Montana and Oregon.
• Additional requirements: Food Handlers Certification, proper use of cleaning chemicals, adherence to food safety laws, ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform duties with mental alertness.
