Job Duties
- Provides animal training, teaching and daily direction to Volunteers, Interns, Program Members and Day Program Assistants as assigned.
- Executes Wildlife Education Programs and events as assigned to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Implements compliance of all government regulations and organization policies and procedures as they apply to the operation of the Wildlife Education Program.
- Implements care, well-being and training of the program animals. Communicates change in animal behavior and health to the Director immediately.
- Implements the Wildlife Education Programs, including preparation of animals transported to/from events as well as providing oversight to program members at the event as needed.
- Handles all program animals in a safe manner; handling animals when necessary related to the care of the animals, not for socialization and/or “play” purposes, unless directed by the Wildlife Education Program Director.
- Maintains a positive, professional demeanor when working with consumers, families, staff, and community resource/service providers.
- Communicates regularly with organization personnel regarding issues/concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Program Director and/or Chief Executive Officer.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology, Zoology or related field preferred.
- NYS Licensed Veterinary Technician.
- The equivalent of 4 years’ experience working with and managing exotic and native wildlife as well as experience teaching in informal/formal educational settings.
- NYS Valid Driver's License.
