Full-time, in-office position located at 319 N Carbonville Rd, Price, Utah, 84501.

About the Role

Administer the wildlife conservation program in the Southeast Region, collecting field data on various native bird and mammal species and working towards conserving their populations and habitat. Overnight travel is often required, and you will work in remote locations, often in adverse conditions, independently. On-call and travel are required; housing may be available in Price, UT at a regional bunkhouse for a limited time.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday with some weekends, including odd hours, late nights, early mornings, and several hours of travel. Tasks may include call-outs and picking up roadkill.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the wildlife conservation program for the Southeast Region of Utah
  • Participate in conservation outreach with native species
  • Prepare grants, design projects, develop research protocols, conduct surveys, and analyze data
  • Budget oversight
  • Hire and supervise seasonal employees

Requirements

  • MS degree or BS plus 4 years of experience, or directly related work experience equivalent
  • Knowledge of wildlife management and conservation principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of research and monitoring principles and techniques, including sampling and statistical analysis
  • Skills with a wide variety of wildlife field methods, including capture and handling of birds and mammals
  • Knowledge of computer software including GIS
  • Ability to work independently
  • Field skills necessary to work or camp in adverse or remote locations
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the flora and fauna of Utah with good field identification skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations
  • Employee supervision skills
  • Ability to work effectively on teams and interagency groups
  • Rabies vaccination

Pay

$25.07 - $31.58 hourly.
