Wig Build Technician

About the role

The Wig Build Technician is responsible for building and styling all wigs under the supervision of the Shop Manager per designs from the Wig Designer.

Responsibilities

• Ventilate, alter, repair, and style wigs
• Apply working knowledge of hair styles including period, modern, and fantasy
• Adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additions
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and maintain a safe work environment
• Contribute to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned

Requirements

• Ability to ventilate and re-front wigs as well as adding/removing weft
• Knowledge of roller sets and hair styling techniques
• Knowledge of facial hair styling (preferred)
• Knowledge of classic marcel
• Ability to create wig styles over the top of wig cages
• Ability to collaborate with the wig team as well as other departments
• Ability to listen, take instruction, and work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
• Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a Wig Builder or equivalent educational experience
• Cosmetology license (not required)

$20 per hour plus overtime, open to negotiation based on experience.
