About the role
The Wig Build Technician is responsible for building and styling all wigs under the supervision of the Shop Manager per designs from the Wig Designer.
Responsibilities
- Ventilate, alter, repair, and style wigs
- Apply working knowledge of hair styles including period, modern, and fantasy
- Adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additions
- Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and maintain a safe work environment
- Contribute to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned
Requirements
- Ability to ventilate and re-front wigs as well as adding/removing weft
- Knowledge of roller sets and hair styling techniques
- Knowledge of facial hair styling (preferred)
- Knowledge of classic marcel
- Ability to create wig styles over the top of wig cages
- Ability to collaborate with the wig team as well as other departments
- Ability to listen, take instruction, and work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a Wig Builder or equivalent educational experience
- Cosmetology license (not required)

$20 per hour plus overtime, open to negotiation based on experience.
