About the Role

The WIC Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Float is responsible for promotion, training, and nutrition education for clients enrolled in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and other nutrition-related programs. This role also acts as a referral resource to appropriate organization services and coordinates activities with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in Dietetics or a nutrition-related field
  • Preferred two years’ experience in community or clinical nutrition education programs or completion of a dietetic internship with RD/RDN credentials
  • Must hold credentials as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED for the Health Care Professional through courses following American Heart Association or Red Cross guidelines
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations
  • Documented excellence in customer service with the ability to interact with and instruct employees and clients from beginner to advanced levels
  • Demonstrated competency in nutrition education methods and techniques
  • Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office applications and relevant program-related applications
  • Competency in working with people of various cultures
  • Evidence of a valid Arizona driver’s license and current auto insurance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Ability to correctly collect specimens, perform testing, and process as indicated
  • Travel to multiple locations required

Responsibilities

  • Provide nutrition education, breastfeeding services, and health promotion to clients and others from various grants/programs, as well as preventive strategies to employees
  • Develop educational guidelines for nutrition, breastfeeding, and preventive health promotion services according to the local standard care plan
  • Document assessment information, food package assignments, nutrition and breastfeeding consultations, and referrals per policy
  • Oversee and approve food and formula special authorizations, coordinating with medical providers and pharmacies as appropriate
  • Educate staff on nutrition education guidelines
  • Certify participants according to program guidelines
  • Assist the Nutrition Services Program Manager as requested and complete appropriate reports as required
  • Plan, implement, and participate in community outreach activities
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as requested
  • Conduct quality assurance according to federal guidelines
  • Follow up on all high-risk participants by reviewing reports and signing off within 90 days
  • Serve on call for formula prescriptions
  • Promote and participate in interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to enhance the delivery of quality across the healthcare system
  • Comply with Adelante Healthcare’s written standards, including its Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct, policies, and procedures

  • Exposed to weather conditions when traveling to various clinic sites
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • May be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, etc.) when working in clinic areas
