About the role
La Clínica de La Raza is a community-based health center committed to providing culturally appropriate, high-quality, and accessible health care to the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. Responsibilities
- Conducts nutrition screening, assessment and counseling, and implements nutrition care plans for all but high-risk patients.
- Affirms appropriate records are updated (records nutrition assessment dates, follows-up on nutrition assessment appointments with Nutritionist II, obtains appropriate signatures on re-interview forms during appointments).
- Maintains documentation by charting dietary intake and recording recommendations given to clients in family folders and medical records.
- Teaches group classes.
- Aids in the development, translation, and evaluation of culturally relevant nutrition education materials.
- Attends weekly staff meetings and other workshops as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by WIC supervisor.
Requirements
- Completion or intent to complete CPA (Competent Professional Authority) certification as mandated by the state of California; minimum one year of individual nutrition counseling experience preferred.
- Holds a current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate. A 30-day grace period to obtain the certificate from the date of hire is available.
- Knows contemporary principles and practices of nutrition; interprets and implements nutrition guidelines for infant, children, and pregnant, and breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding women, and other patients.
- Knows nutritional value of foods; meal planning and preparation that is culturally appropriate; food safety.
- Knows principles, methods, and materials used in nutrition counseling, education, and screening.
- Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing techniques preferred.
- Has ability to work independently as well as collectively on projects.
- Has strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Has ability to work across cultures and demonstrates support of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Bilingual/Spanish required.
Qualifications

Benefits
Salary range: $25.95 - $34.05 per hour DOE (Salary determined based on qualifications and experience).
