WIC Nutrition Aide

About the role

We are a private, not-for-profit organization that coordinates public health grants for a 26-county region in central PA. This full-time position supports the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program in Lewistown.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments and determine eligibility
  • Collect data and conduct nutrition interviews
  • Prescribe food benefits
  • Perform various duties to ensure delivery of WIC benefits, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support
  • Local travel within Mifflin and Juniata Counties
  • Some early evening and Saturday hours

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One year of related experience
  • Preferred qualifications (not required):
    • Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR) credential with an associate degree
    • Associate or bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health education, or a related field
    • College-level coursework in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health education, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous WIC experience preferred but not required
