  • Monday: 7:30am - 6:00pm
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday: 7:30am - 1:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and assess health history information, dietary intake, anthropometric, and blood work data from WIC participants or guardians to determine nutritional and/or medical risks for program enrollment.
  • Provide individualized nutrition counseling and prescribe food packages appropriate for participant needs.
  • Document risk codes, food packages, and care plan information in participant charts and the WIC computer system.
  • Determine type, frequency, and topic of mid-certification nutrition education contacts for each participant; provide education in group or individual settings.
  • Implement the project’s High Risk Plan to ensure appropriate service delivery and referral for participants with the greatest need.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the project’s Biennial Nutrition Education Plan.
  • Provide prenatal participants with information about infant feeding choices to support informed decisions prior to birth.
  • Refer participants to other health, social, or education services as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain nutrition education materials and literature.
  • Complete, sign, and date all required documents in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the Director to develop and conduct programs and activities to achieve program goals.
  • Provide WIC outreach as requested and travel to other county WIC clinic sites for coverage.
  • Practice in accordance with State WIC policies and procedures and the State Medical Board of Ohio Licensure Law.
  • Perform all other assigned duties and tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Dietetics required (Bachelor’s degree accepted if graduated prior to January 2024).
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Licensed with the State Medical Board of Ohio.
  • Experience in public health/community dietetics with emphasis on prenatal and pediatric nutrition.
  • Prior WIC experience preferred.
  • Experience in clinical dietetics desirable.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of current practice management systems, electronic medical records, Microsoft Word, text paging, Internet, and Intranet.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
