WIC Administrative Assistant/Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) are community-based healthcare providers that receive funds from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program to provide primary care services in under-served areas.
About the role
This is a hybrid role that will work 3 days onsite and 2 days remotely.
Work Location: 7228 Moncure Pittsboro Rd, Moncure, NC 27559 (Moncure Community Health Center)
Schedule
- Monday - Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Makes income eligibility determination for applicants for the WIC program.
- Determines continuing eligibility for monthly issuance of food instruments.
- Provides client education regarding voucher issuance and usage and the certification process.
- Makes client referrals for a variety of services, internally and externally.
- Prepares, maintains, and reconciles charts and folders for WIC Program participants.
- May coordinate clinic flow.
- May take anthropometric measurements per WIC guidelines and plot data on growth charts.
- Provides in-clinic breastfeeding support in the form of classes, one-on-one contacts, and phone calls.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Preferred: Bilingual/Fluent in Spanish.
- Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.
Patient Population Served: Ethnically and racially diverse population of pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women, infants and young children, and all family members involved.
Pay
$17.66/hour - $23.74/hour (commensurate with years of experience).
