Career Summary

Wilson Health is seeking a Full-time - Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse (CLINICAL FLOAT) to provide comprehensive clinical support to providers across multiple Wilson Health Medical Group practices.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the physician, the Clinical Float provides high-quality clinical support, assists with examinations and procedures, coordinates patient care, and promotes an exceptional patient experience. This position is primarily assigned to Wilson Health Medical Group offices but will routinely travel to and provide coverage at other practice locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-quality clinical support under the direction of the physician and within the scope of licensure/certification and established clinical guidelines.
  • Anticipates provider needs to promote efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care.
  • Floats to multiple Wilson Health Medical Group practice locations as assigned to support staffing and operational needs.
  • Greets patients in a courteous, compassionate, and professional manner while demonstrating Wilson Health's ASPIRE values.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for their visit.
  • Obtains and accurately documents vital signs, chief complaints, medical history updates, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record.
  • Aids providers with examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures, including specimen collection, blood draws, injections, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and minor surgical procedures.
  • Documents patient care accurately, thoroughly, and timely in the electronic health record while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care and positive patient experiences.
  • Performs quality control and routine maintenance of clinical equipment, including laboratory testing devices, refrigerators, sterilizers, and other equipment, while maintaining required compliance logs.
  • Supports front office operations as needed, including appointment scheduling, telephone triage, electronic messaging, faxing, insurance documentation, and completion of patient forms to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Adapts quickly to varying provider workflows, office procedures, and patient populations while maintaining high standards of customer service and clinical excellence.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state regulations, OSHA standards, infection prevention practices, HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, and Wilson Health Medical Group policies and procedures.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, required education, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives to support continuous professional development and organizational goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support patient care and the overall mission of Wilson Health.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program with a current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential, or other nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification, as applicable.
  • Experience working in a multi-provider or multi-specialty medical practice.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) - EPIC - and practice management systems.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while adapting to multiple practice locations, providers, and changing patient care needs.

Education & Experience

  • Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program with a current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a multi-provider or multi-specialty medical practice, experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) - EPIC - and practice management systems, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe, demonstrated ability to work independently while adapting to multiple practice locations, providers, and changing patient care needs.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The Certified Medical Assistant must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
