WGL - Gas Transmission Engineer (Level I, II,III or IV)
About the role
Washington Gas has an immediate need for a Transmission Engineer to provide design and engineering support for the Engineering group and Gas Transportation. Civil Engineering is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage transmission and high pressure large-diameter distribution pipeline projects of small to moderate scope including route analysis and selection, pipeline design, project cost estimating, coordinating easement acquisition and permitting, material identification & acquisition, construction specifications, assistance with contractor bid and selection process, construction management support, restoration and documentation activities.
- Manage budget and provide cost/schedule forecasts for projects mentioned above.
- Aid in the development and justification of annual capital budget items.
- Provide weekly MOS reports.
- Provide civil engineering design function for the entire Corporate Engineering and GT Unit.
- Provide overall engineering support for operating and maintenance and special projects.
- Provide engineering assistance for the development of new or updating of existing O&M procedures as well as Design & Construction standards.
- Support or manage large-scale or complex transmission/distribution piping projects.
- Provide analysis of complex loading scenarios on existing transmission and high pressure distribution pipelines.
- Support or manage civil/structural projects within WGL process facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical or Civil.
- A general knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Prominent ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, research, analysis, and reporting purposes.
- Engineer Level I Internship or previous relevant experience a plus.
- "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred.
- Engineer Level II: 1-2 years of relevant experience in the natural gas or related industry required. "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred.
- Engineer Level III: 3+ Years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required. Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required, or "Project Management Professional" (PMP) Certification required. Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred, or GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification is preferred.
- Engineer Level IV: 5+ years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required. Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required, or GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification is required. Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred.
Qualifications
We offer a competitive salary range of $66,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
