WGL – Senior Gas Transmission Engineer
About the role
The successful candidate will manage transmission and high-pressure large-diameter distribution pipeline projects of small to moderate scope. Duties include route analysis and selection, pipeline design, project cost estimating, easement acquisition and permitting, material identification and acquisition, construction specifications, assisting with contractor bid and selection processes, construction management support, restoration and documentation activities. They will also provide civil engineering design function for the entire Corporate Engineering and GT Unit, overall engineering support for operating and maintenance and special projects, and engineering assistance for the development of new or updated O&M procedures and Design & Construction standards. Additionally, they will provide project support for or manage large-scale or complex transmission/distribution piping projects, analyze complex loading scenarios on existing transmission and high-pressure distribution pipelines, and provide support for or manage civil/structural projects within WGL process facilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage budget and provide cost/schedule forecasts for transmission and high-pressure large-diameter distribution pipeline projects.
- Aid in the development and justification of annual capital budget items.
- Prepare and submit weekly MOS reports.
- Provide civil engineering design function for the entire Corporate Engineering and GT Unit.
- Offer overall engineering support for operating and maintenance and special projects.
- Assist with the development and updating of existing O&M procedures and Design & Construction standards.
- Support or manage large-scale or complex transmission/distribution piping projects.
- Analyze complex loading scenarios on existing transmission and high-pressure distribution pipelines.
- Support or manage civil/structural projects within WGL process facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Civil.
- Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, research, analysis, and reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Engineer Level II: 1-2 years of relevant experience in the natural gas or related industry required. EIT Certification preferred.
- Engineer Level III: 3+ years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required. EIT Certification is required, or PMP Certification required. PE Certification preferred, or GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification preferred.
- Engineer Level IV: 5+ years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required. EIT Certification is required, or GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification is preferred. PE Certification preferred.
Skills
- General knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.
Benefits
Competitive salary range of $66,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
