West Region Pharmacy Leader – Managing Director, Pharmacy Consulting
About the role
As the West Region Pharmacy Consulting Leader, you will lead the West Region Pharmacy Consulting team and contribute to new strategic and innovative directions for our pharmacy business. You will lead large, highly visible client engagements and regional Rx consulting team priorities, serving as a key voice in the marketplace for one of the world’s leading HR consulting firms. This role offers the opportunity to influence the evolution of pharmacy and broader healthcare delivery in North America.
You will grow our solutions portfolio with a focus on driving client value and revenue while leading regional growth, retention, staffing, collaboration, colleague development, and market engagement. The ideal candidate brings influence, strategic thinking, professionalism, responsiveness, and a client-first mindset to address unique client needs, build community within the regional Rx team, and evolve our practice.
You will collaborate with pharmacy practice colleagues and cross-functional Health & Benefits teams, including subject matter experts, H&B market and region leaders, sales leaders, LRMs, CST, specialty community leads, and pharmacy vendor partners. A pharmacist degree and license in good standing is preferred for this role.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tangible and measurable contributions around pharmacy innovation and revenue that can be leveraged nationally.
- Serve as the regional Rx leader and lead pharmacy strategic partner and trusted advisor to large, complex clients in the design, management, growth, and delivery of their pharmacy benefit programs.
- Lead the development and advancement of innovative pharmacy solutions, strategic partnerships, and integrated pharmacy offerings that drive client value, market differentiation, and business growth.
- Provide expertise in pharmacy benefit strategy, vendor management, procurement, auditing, cost management, specialty pharmacy, and client engagement as a senior pharmacy consultant and trusted advisor.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with clients, vendor partners, and industry stakeholders to identify emerging opportunities, advance strategic initiatives, and shape next-generation pharmacy solutions.
- Drive regional and national growth through business development, client retention, sales support, thought leadership, conference speaking, market visibility, and new business pursuits.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including market leaders, sales teams, CST, specialty communities, and cross-functional H&B teams, to deliver integrated client solutions and advance strategic priorities.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the regional Rx consulting team, including staffing, recruitment, performance management, colleague development, collaboration, and delivery excellence.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and client focus while championing strategic initiatives across the pharmacy practice and broader H&B organization.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging market dynamics to shape pharmacy strategy, intellectual capital, innovative solutions, and points of view.
- Maintain an individual client portfolio, support escalated client matters, and ensure strong coordination across teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
- Contribute to the growth and long-term success of the pharmacy practice through leadership, innovation, talent development, and revenue generation.

Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience and success in the design/management of large group pharmacy benefit plans gained in a consulting or brokerage environment.
- Proven ability to generate revenue and meet regional and personal sales targets.
- Track record of success in managing and growing large client relationships and maintaining an individual client book of business.
- Demonstrated client-facing consulting experience and ability to support escalated client issues.
- Proven experience in successfully leading a global or regional team and projects, and strategic partnership development and growth.
- Experience managing or mentoring colleagues, including training, development, colleague support, goal setting, and year-end performance reviews.
- Ability to manage regional staffing and delivery needs while building team community and collaboration.
- An executive presence with polished and well-developed written and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.
- A dynamic strategic thinker not afraid to challenge the status quo by asking hard questions and deconstructing and rebuilding current solutions as necessary.
- Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization as well as cross-functional teams.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with market leaders, region leaders, sales leaders, LRMs, CST, specialty community leads, and pharmacy vendor partners.
- Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of the latest developments in pharmacy and broader health and benefits plan strategy and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches.
- Ability to conduct growth planning, pipeline reviews, retention planning, and identification/escalation of retention risks.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Availability to travel.
- Bachelor’s of Pharmacy or PharmD degree preferred.
- For pharmacists, actively licensed in home state and in good standing.
- State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining.
Pay
The base salary compensation range for this role is $200,000-$250,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
