About the role
The Shuttle Driver conducts safe and efficient vehicle movement/parking under the direction of the Supervisor and the Team Leader, and prepares new factory-condition vehicles for various stages of logistics processing.
Responsibilities
- Drives new finished-product vehicles to designated locations
- Drives and parks vehicles in accordance with the Transportation & Handling Manual
- Maintains stamina to sit for several hours and hand-eye coordination to operate vehicles safely
- Maintains constant contact with the Team Leader and tracks pickup and drop-off locations
- Inspects vehicles prior to driving to ensure they are damage-free and functioning correctly
- Follows all Port traffic policies and posted speed limits
- Reports any unsafe conditions, road hazards, or mechanical difficulties to management
- Documents and reports vehicle damage or mechanical issues
- Reads and understands parking location maps
- Prepares vehicles for various stages of processing (e.g., tire pressure checks, battery condition checks)
- Drives vehicles on/off conveyors and to fueling stations or car washes
- Removes exterior/interior plastic protective wrap and trash from vehicles
- Completes checklists as required
- Performs scanning for various movement functions and vehicle spotting for other drivers or customers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must hold a valid state-issued driver’s license without restrictions
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Good depth perception and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to drive both automatic and straight-shift vehicles
- Ability to record and verify numbers up to 17 characters in length
- Demonstrated mechanical abilities and general knowledge of automobile components
- Flexibility with schedule, including breaks, extended hours, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to cross-train in other departmental needs
Physical Requirements
- Drive vehicles for extended periods
- Lift/carry up to 10 lbs
