West Bromine Operations Technician
We are currently hiring for two West Bromine Operations Technician positions. Based on business needs, experience, and qualifications, successful candidates will be assigned to one of four operational areas: Tower, Stripper, Lab, or Boiler.
About the Role
All positions play a critical role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient production of bromine while maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Tower Technician: Safely operate the Bromine Tower and supporting process equipment to ensure efficient bromine production. Monitor process conditions, troubleshoot operational issues, and maintain a basic understanding of plant chemistry and related production systems.
- Stripper Technician: Operate the H₂S Stripper, tail brine treatment system, bromine loading, and raw material receiving processes in a safe and compliant manner. Monitor and control equipment used to remove H₂S from incoming brine while supporting bromine production and material handling activities.
- Lab Technician: Operate the plant laboratory, process water systems, and air compressor systems to support production and product quality. Perform laboratory testing, monitor water and utility systems, and provide analytical support for bromine production.
- Boiler Technician: Operate the high-pressure boiler and supporting utility systems that provide steam and process support to the plant. Manage the H₂S gas compressor, chlorine storage/unloading, and caustic receiving systems while ensuring safe, reliable plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Understand, interpret, and consistently follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety requirements, and environmental regulations while operating chemical processing equipment in a safe and compliant manner.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate process equipment, connect and disconnect piping and transfer hoses, perform routine operator maintenance, and identify equipment issues requiring repair.
- Apply strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to prioritize multiple tasks, troubleshoot operational issues, and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with peers, maintenance, and supervision while accurately documenting operational observations and maintenance notifications.
- Maintain accurate operating records, complete required documentation, and learn plant systems while working safely in an industrial environment and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
