About the role

Join the RAB physician network in Berlin as a self-employed doctor providing private house calls on a fee-for-service basis. You’ll work flexibly, daily from 6:00 AM to midnight, without practice administration or rigid schedules. Treat patients independently and bill directly according to the German Fee Schedule for Physicians (GOÄ). We provide precise training on processes and billing, along with support during every assignment.

How the collaboration works

• You remain self-employed: Work freelance on your own account—no employment, full entrepreneurial freedom.
• We connect you with patients: Our established platform, phone, and online booking system generate daily requests across Berlin. We forward suitable assignments to you.
• You bill directly per GOÄ: Invoice patients or their private health insurance/benefits independently.
• You pay a fair referral fee: A transparent fee applies per successfully mediated assignment—no base fee or risk during idle periods.

In short: You carry medical responsibility and earn your professional fees—we ensure patients reach you.

Responsibilities

• Conduct private house calls for adults (internal medicine, general medicine) and pediatric patients (with relevant experience).
• Provide acute ENT care on weekends and holidays.
• Care for seniors and chronically ill patients.
• Issue sick notes and prescriptions on-site.
• No emergency services: Life-threatening cases (112) are excluded—you fill the gap between minor issues and true emergencies.

Requirements

• Full medical license (Approbation) in Germany or equivalent EU recognition (Directive 2005/36/EC).
• Ideally, specialization in general medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or ENT—other specialties welcome.
• Experience in acute and general patient care.
• Self-employed/freelance status or willingness to establish it.
• Own professional liability insurance (minimum €5M coverage per incident; annual proof required).
• Own basic medical equipment: stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, otoscope, pulse oximeter; optional ECG/ultrasound depending on scope.
• Own car and Class B driver’s license for house calls in Berlin and surrounding Brandenburg.
• If employed: written secondary employment approval from your primary employer and notification to the Berlin Medical Association (per §17 MBO-Ä).
• Composure, judgment, and empathy in direct patient contact.

Retired physicians or those seeking flexible supplemental work are explicitly welcome.

FAQ

• Am I employed by RAB?
  No. You work self-employed, bill independently per GOÄ, and decide which requests to accept. We recommend initiating a status assessment (per §7a SGB IV) with the German Pension Insurance’s clearinghouse before starting.
• How does billing work?
  You invoice patients or their private insurance directly per GOÄ. Fees go entirely to you—RAB does not take a share of treatment earnings.
• What does platform use cost?
  A monthly platform fee covers booking infrastructure, non-medical dispatch, marketing, and availability systems. No per-patient or success-based fees (compliant with §31 MBO-Ä and §299a StGB). Terms are discussed transparently in person.
• Is there a long-term commitment?
  No. You decide flexibly when to accept assignments—no minimum volume or mandatory availability.
• Can I do this alongside employment?
  Yes, with prior written approval from your primary employer and notification to the Berlin Medical Association (§17 MBO-Ä). Civil-servant physicians (e.g., at university hospitals) must additionally check their applicable secondary employment regulations.
• What equipment do I need?
  Your own basic medical tools: stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, otoscope, pulse oximeter; optional ECG/ultrasound depending on scope. Own car for house calls. Your own GOÄ billing system or PVS. RAB does not provide branded clothing, business cards, or treatment protocols—you practice under your own professional responsibility.
• How am I insured?
  You must carry your own professional liability insurance (required per §21 MBO-Ä Berlin), with a recommended minimum €5M coverage per incident. Proof of current insurance is mandatory for joining and must be updated annually.
• How are shifts organized?
  Specific processes, scheduling, and compensation models are discussed personally during the introductory meeting to accommodate your individual situation.
