Job Duties

Leads the dynamic Wellness Education program, planning, administering, and teaching engaging classroom activities for inmates. Supervises and coordinates exciting recreational activities, ensuring security and direct supervision for all participants. Collaborates with medical and security staff to create impactful wellness programs that support the social recovery of inmates. Monitors and assesses inmate interests, transforming assessments into actionable goals and performance tasks to enhance wellness education. Organizes and oversees special events and competitive wellness activities, including coordinating with outside groups for recreational and cultural experiences.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
  • One year of professional experience in conducting recreational activities or health/wellness
  • Correctional experience can substitute for one year of the required work experience

  • BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT: The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
