Wellness Director

About the Role

The Hampshire Regional YMCA is seeking a fitness professional to lead our Wellness department. This role oversees all personal training offerings, Wellness floor gym equipment and operations, and fitness programming such as TRX, barbell, and more. The ideal candidate will create a sense of belonging for all members and participants, serving a diverse community regardless of age, income, or background.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a health/fitness field is preferred.
• At least 2 years’ experience managing and supervising others.
• Personal Trainer certification from one of the following nationally recognized organizations: ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, IFPA, AFAA, or YMCA.
• Strong background in customer service and excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the Wellness floor culture is safe, positive, nurturing, and non-threatening for members and participants of all backgrounds.
• Hire, supervise, schedule, evaluate, coach, and manage a staff of full-time and part-time personal trainers and Wellness Floor attendants.
• Interact with members and participants daily to build rapport and ensure smooth operations.
• Respond to member inquiries and complaints as needed.
• Analyze fitness program needs in the community and develop and execute Wellness programming throughout the year.
• Participate in HRYMCA leadership team duties, including weekly meetings, strategic planning, signature fundraising events, and general oversight of building safety and operations.
• Oversee all equipment maintenance, inventory, and purchasing for the Wellness Floor.
• Operate and staff programs and the Wellness Floor as needed.
