About the Role
The Wellness Director plays an integral role in upholding American House’s mission to enrich the lives of those we serve. This leadership position supervises, educates, directs, and supports all Wellness team members and serves as manager on duty in the absence of the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Overall implementation, delivery, and coordination of resident services at the community.
- Supervisory responsibilities of all wellness team members, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and addressing complaints.
- Coordinate family/resident care conferences and serve as a liaison between residents, families, and staff.
- Assess/evaluate potential residents for Assisted Living/Memory Care level of care using assessment tools, including offsite evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with all state regulatory requirements, including mandatory reporting.
- Complete, file, and follow up on incident reports; conduct investigations for complaints, grievances, and incidents.
- Ensure staff adherence to safety regulations, including fire protection, infection control, and hazardous waste programs.
- Maintain compliance with state regulations and policies for medication administration, including oversight of medication management and Medication Aide programs.
- Provide marketing support by participating in tours and discussing wellness offerings with potential residents and families.
- Maintain confidentiality of all role-related information.
- Foster positive employee relations through staff appreciation, recognition, and retention programs.
- Monitor licensure and certification compliance for all Wellness staff.
- Provide reports to the Executive Director and Regional Wellness Director concerning Wellness Department operations.
- Lead coordination of health care services with third-party providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on budget, equipment, and supply needs.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, TB test, and physical.
Qualifications
- 3 years of management experience in a healthcare or service-related setting.
- Physiological and psychological knowledge related to gerontology.
- Reliable transportation to perform offsite assessments and evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with older adults and individuals with memory loss.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Provide 24/7 on-call clinical support.
- Ability to regularly stand, talk, bend, stretch, pull or push, and lift items.
- Assist others with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, dining, and exercising.
- Frequent communication with residents, families, and co-workers to exchange accurate information.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
