Wellness Associate (Caregiver)

About the role

The Wellness Associate at Serenades at West Orange is responsible for providing comprehensive care and support to residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being. This position requires a strong commitment to the residents' health and happiness.

Responsibilities

• Aids in daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene, and mobility.
• Maintains awareness of residents' health and reports any changes immediately to the Wellness Director.
• Manages medical supply inventory and orders when necessary.
• Assists with shift coverage and new employee orientation.
• Responds to emergencies, administers first aid, and coordinates medical follow-ups.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of residents' units.
• Answers calls and attends to resident needs promptly.
• Assists with clothing and laundry needs as directed.
• Supports residents in meal selection, service, and feeding.
• Participates in activity programs as assigned.
• Maintains accurate records and files as required.
• Completes a minimum of 6 hours of in-service education annually.

Requirements

• Current State Nurse’s Aide registration preferred but not required.
• Experience and passion in working with seniors.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like pushing, bending, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
• Positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers, and other staff members.
• Good physical and emotional health, free of communicable diseases.

Qualifications

• Education and experience in healthcare or related field.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and strength.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency procedures.
